Body, Dyce to Represent Team USA in Powerlifting at 2024 Paralympic Games

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – U.S. Paralympics Powerlifting today announced the selection of two powerlifters – Bobby Body (Eaton Rapids, Michigan) and Ashley Dyce (Colton, California) – to the team for the Paralympic Games Paris 2024.
Body and Dyce will each be making their Paralympic debuts in Paris. It is the first time since London 2012 that multiple U.S. powerlifters have qualified for a Games.
“We are so proud of the work that Bobby and Ashley have put in to qualify for their first Paralympic Games,” Whitney Carter, director, Internally Managed Sports at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, said. “Both athletes represent the best of Team USA, and we are excited to see them compete at the pinnacle of their sport.”
Body is currently ranked fourth in the world in the men’s up to 107 kg. weight class, which earned him an automatic berth to the Games, Team USA’s first automatic qualifier since 2012. Body has been the top American powerlifter in the years leading up to the Paris Games, bringing home two world championships silver medals in the men’s 107 kg. legends division in 2023, and winning the 2023 Parapan American Games gold medal.
The 50-year-old is a U.S. Army veteran, and said his goal for Paris 2024 is to break the world record in his weight class.
Dyce, meanwhile, earned a bipartite invitation from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Though the 37-year-old will make her first Paralympic Games appearance in Paris, she has plenty of international experience under her belt. In addition to three world championships berths, Dyce placed sixth at the 2023 Parapan American Games.
She will compete in the women’s over 86 kg. weight class and becomes the first female powerlifter to compete at a Paralympic Games for Team USA since London 2012.
The Paralympic Games run Aug. 28-Sept. 8, with powerlifting competition taking place Sept. 4-8.
